The Grove

The Grove is an exciting, newly approved development that introduces a muchneeded eightbed, two-storey extension to a picturesque care home in St. Austell, Cornwall. With demand for elderly care continuing to rise across Cornwall and the wider Southwest, the project supports the existing home in delivering higherquality care for new and future residents.

Set beside the stunning Cornish Mining World Heritage Site, the care home enjoys a hillside position with far-reaching views across rolling fields and towards the coastline. The proposed extension has been carefully designed to provide the additional bedrooms required while adding fresh architectural character to the traditional building, orientated to ensure all bedroom’s face south for natural daylight and views.

A soft buff brick palette is paired with deep green standingseam zinc cladding, creating a contemporary contrast that blends beautifully with surrounding trees and sweeping green landscapes. This thoughtful design approach clearly distinguishes old from new, while remaining sensitive to the home’s context and the natural beauty of the area.
