This thoughtfully designed development in Waterlooville, created for Frontier Estates, brings together six new homes and a welcoming care facility for the elderly on a former school playing field. Despite early planning challenges, the project now delivers a highquality, communityfocused environment.
The care home is shaped around the diverse needs of residents, offering flexible ancillary spaces across its wings. Lounges, dining areas, and activity rooms encourage social connection, while varied room sizes ensure future adaptability. Outside, accessible garden spaces feature raised planters, sensory elements, and enhanced boundary planting for privacy and enjoyment.
Careful site positioning respects neighbouring homes by maintaining generous separation and avoiding a drainage easement. The building’s sensitive massing—combining 1.5 and 2.5 storey elements with accommodation tucked into the roof—helps it settle comfortably into its residential context.
Inspired by local architecture, the façades blend warm red brick with rendered sections, generous glazing, and greenery. Refined eaves, varied ridge heights, and simplified elevations create a contemporary, wellbalanced design that harmonises beautifully with its surroundings.
